A good steak is one of the culinary pleasures of every man. A sophisticated dinner has its charm, but nothing compares with a simple steak that is full of flavor. Many of us think that such a dish is expensive and it can be very difficult to prepare at home but the truth is that by using some simple tricks you too can cook a delicious steak in just a short time. Here’s how to get started.
Prepare the steak before cooking
Getting the meat ready for the pan is essential. Start by cutting it into pieces of 2-3 inches and dry it thoroughly with kitchen paper or a clean towel. Many experts recommend the piece of meat to be dried before being cooked. Otherwise it will form a crust and may even get some unpleasant aroma of cooked meat.Season with pepper, thyme, paprika etc., but do not sprinkle salt on the meat- salt will extract moisture from the meat and you could end up with a dry and flavorless piece of steak. The seasoning methods vary depending on the thickness of the meat. The ideal thickness is at least 2 inches, according to most experts.
Pan sear your steak
Now let’s start cooking steak. Start by placing on the stove a regular pan or a non-stick pan. Pour some vegetable oil to form a thin cover on the entire surface. As soon as the oil begins to smoke, put the meat in the pan. Resist the temptation to turn the meat on the other side too early. Initially, the steak will stick to the saucepan. After two or three minutes, it will form a golden crust and the meat will detach itself from the bottom of the pan. You can check this by gently pushing the pieces with a wooden spoon. If the slices of meat are gliding on the surface of the pan easily, it’s time to turn the meat over. Repeat the searing on the other side of the steak. After 2-3 minutes take the pan off the heat.
Place the pan in the oven
Put the pan in a hot oven. High temperatures are essential. So the first step, even before preparing the meat is to set the oven to maximum temperature. It would be preferable to turn on the oven 10-15 minutes before cooking the meat. If you like your steak rare, leave it inside the oven to cook for four minutes. If you love well done meat, keep the pan in the oven for seven minutes. Do not leave it for more than that, otherwise it will lose all of its juices and aroma.
Let it rest
Remove the pan from the oven and leave it aside for a few minutes (temperature of the meat will rise by several degrees once removed from the fire). Now the steak is ready, juicy, and cooking did not take more than fifteen minutes.
Use a gas grill to enhance the aroma
If you find the entire process overwhelming and time-consuming, you might want to use a gas grill instead. The advantage of using a gas grill to cook your steak is that you there’s no need to sear the meat before. Simply place on the grill and leave it to cook for 3-4 minutes on each side. The steak will simply taste amazing! If you don’t have a gas grill, you should invest in one as soon as possible. It will cost you quite a lot of money, especially if you will choose a sturdy and modern grill. Nevertheless, every man who loves steak should have a gas grill.
